Nigeria achieved its OPEC crude oil output quota of 1.5 million barrels per day (bpd) for the second time in 2025, reaching 1.505 million bpd in June—the highest since January. This reinforces Nigeria’s status as Africa’s leading oil producer. The National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) aims to increase its OPEC quota by 25%, targeting two million bpd by 2027, supported by enhanced production and the new Dangote refinery. Nigeria and Russia are strengthening cooperation within OPEC+, with Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak highlighting their collaboration’s role in maintaining global oil market stability.
